The end of March marked the 2013 New York Auto Show, where hundreds of new cars and innovative concepts meet up for their big debut in the Big Apple. Hyundai was obviously there with a few tricks up their sleeve. In fact, the automaker took us by surprise when it unveiled the upcoming 2014 Hyundai Equus just moments before its press conference. We have a first look at the large luxury sedan.

While the new Hyundai seemingly looks identical to the current Equus, it features many upgrades not visible at first glance. In fact, the only refreshers we see with the exterior are slight styling revisions on the front bumper, grille, lights, and mirrors. The look was complete with the fresh black paint job it rocked at the auto show and overall, it looked sleeker and sportier.

Moving onto the inside, we'll see an abundance of new technologies, including a redesigned instrument panel, gauge cluster, and a 9.2-inch touch screen in the center dashboard, even on the standard Hyundai model.

The new Equus still maintains its 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V-8 engine, which is fine by us as the powertrain churns out a robust herd of 429 ponies and 376 pounds-feet of torque. Plus, when you pair it with the Hyundai's improved air suspension tuning, you get an Equus that has a smooth ride without skimping on the muscle. It also allows drivers to feel a noticeable contrast between "Normal" and "Sport" modes.

Though Hyundai has not confirmed when the latest Equus will be heading to dealerships like Downtown Hyundai, we will be sure to keep you updated right here on our blog. In the meantime, we invite you to check out the current Equus and other new models we have, ready for a test drive with you, at 1512 Broadway in Nashville, TN. Our friendly team of experts are looking forward to answering your questions and getting you behind the wheel of a Hyundai.
